Snapdragon (Antirrhinum majus) is a native plant of the Mediterranean and Middle East regions, named for its dragon-like appearance and serpent-like shape, with the name deriving from Old English words "snape" (dragon) and "dracaena" (serpent). These flowers feature long stems adorned with numerous blooms in a variety of vibrant colours such as white, yellow, orange, pink, and red, and emit a light, sweet fragrance. They are popular in floral arrangements due to their striking, tall, spiky appearance and durability when treated with products such as FloraLife. Blooming begins at the bottom of the spike and progresses upward, with a few flowers opening initially at delivery; removing spent blooms can prolong their vase life. The playful nickname "Snappies" comes from the way squeezing the sides of the bloom causes the "dragon's mouth" to open and close, mimicking a snapping motion.
